In the News: Affordable senior housing coming to Decatur this fall
Construction has been completed on new affordable senior housing in Decatur. The grand opening is slated for this fall.
Columbia Residential and the Decatur Housing Authority worked on the 80-unit project, located at 515 E. Freeman Street. Columbia Residential began leasing the property in June.
The development, known as The Link, has 70 affordable units and 10 market-rate units, which are available to tenants 62 years and older. Units are available for those making 30%, 50%, and 60% of the area median income, as well as some that are market rate. Rents range from $1,000 on the affordable end to $1,800 for a market-rate unit.
The units are a mixture of one- and two-bedroom apartments across the five-story building. Some of the amenities include a courtyard, gathering spaces, offices, and a gym.
