In the News: Previously owned MARTA land to be used to develop affordable housing for seniors

DECATUR, Ga. (CBS46) — Seniors in need of affordable housing in Decatur may soon have another option thanks to MARTA.

According to a MARTA spokesperson, the agency sold two parcels of land near the Avondale rail station on the Blue Line for the development of 80 housing units for seniors.

Columbia Residential will develop the affordable and mixed-income housing units in partnership with the Decatur Housing Authority.

The parcels, totaling 1.45 acres, are the final two components of the master transit-oriented development.
