The 9th Annual Back to School Bash Provides Backpacks Filled with School Supplies for 1,500 Kids Attending Schools in the Carver Cluster.
ATLANTA, GA – July 22, 2023 – Anticipating the excitement of a new school year, Columbia Residential brought the community together for a vibrant Caribbean-themed Back to School Bash on Saturday July 22, 2023. Held at the Steam Academy at Carver, a Purpose Built School, the Resident Services Department coordinated the event, which collaborated between community partners, local schools in the Carver Cluster, organizations, and businesses.
The festivities commenced with live music from Latitude Adjustment Steel Band, and volunteers greeted attendees after check-in. The positive vibes were contagious, setting the tone for a day full of fun.
Throughout the event, our amazing volunteers distributed 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies; attendees enjoyed a free BBQ lunch, and community partners provided valuable resources to attendees. Over the nine years that Columbia Residential has hosted this event, we have been able to provide more than 8,724 school supplies to several schools in the Metro Atlanta area.
In addition to supporting school readiness, the Back to School Bash included family-friendly entertainment including music by Off the Wall DJs, a Double Dutch showdown by Double Dutch Aerobics, and yard games. The crowd cheered as they encouraged and supported experienced and first-time Double Dutch participants.
Local vendors and sponsors also provided valuable resources, school supplies, and support to attending families. It was heartwarming to experience the community coming together to ensure students and parents have a positive start to the academic year.
Columbia Residential’s 9th Annual Back to School Bash touched the hearts of everyone in attendance, reinforcing the strength of community ties and the importance of education.
